East Cork Physiotherapy & Acupuncture Clinic

East Cork Physiotherapy & Acupuncture Clinic was established in 1996.  It is made up of a team of four Chartered Physiotherapists, one Acupuncturist and a Clinic Manager.

 

Sheila Barrett: Sheila graduated from Trinity College, Dublin in 1986 with a Degree in Physiotherapy.  She completed membership exams of the Irish Society of Orthopaedic Medicine in 1994 and qualified as a Licensed Acupuncturist from the British College of Acupuncture in 1996.  She has attended a wide range of post-graduate physiotherapy & acupuncture courses.  Sheila worked in the public & private sectors in Cork Hospitals & Clinics along with having worked abroad in the USA in both Florida and Michigan and in Zimbabwe.

 

Séamus Ó Néill: Séamus graduated from University of Limerick in 2007 with a Degree in Physiotherapy.  Since then he has worked in Newcastle West in Private Practice.  Séamus has completed post graduate education in a variety of musculoskeletal and biomechanical courses.  He joined the East Cork Physiotherapy & Acupuncture in 2008.

 

Mairead O’Sullivan: Mairead graduated with a Bsc (Physiotherapy) Hons in physiotherapy from the university of Huddersfield in 2004. Since then she has gained a wide variety of experience working in the NHS.  She has completed  post graduate courses in acupuncture, sports injuries, biomechanics and vestibular rehabilitaion.  She joined the clinic here in 2008.

 

Nuala Heavin: Nuala graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1994, and has worked in a number of clinical settings in both the public and private sectors. Following a period at the South Eastern Health Board, she traveled to Romaina and Australia to further develop her physiotherapy skills. On return, she worked as a senior physiotherapist at the national Rehabilitation Hospital, Dublin. In 1998 she completed a master’s degree in Occupational Health and ergonomics at NUIG. Since then, she has been involved in the provision of health, safety and ergonomic consultancy services to a broad range of industry sectors. Her primary focus is on the prevention of occupational injury through ergonomic risk management and education.

 

Emma Fitzgerald: Emma joined the clinic in 2001 and is responsible for the administrative aspects creating an efficient, friendly and welcoming environment.

Our Staff

East Cork Physiotherapy & Acupuncture Clinic was established in 1996. It is made up of a team of four Chartered Physiotherapists, Acupuncturists and a Clinic Manager. Each Therapist is a member of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists ensuring each is degree trained. licensed and insured by the ISCP. See for further details.

Sheila graduated from Trinity College, Dublin in 1986 with a Degree in Physiotherapy. She completed membership exams of the Irish Society of Orthopaedic Medicine in 1994 and qualified as a Licensed Acupuncturist from the British College of Acupuncture in 1996. She gained Certification in Vestibular Rehabilitation from Emory University, Atlanta, USA in 2011. She has attended a wide range of post-graduate physiotherapy & acupuncture courses. Sheila worked in the public & private sectors in Cork Hospitals & Clinics along with having worked abroad in the USA in both Florida and Michigan and in Zimbabwe. Finally opening this clinic in Midleton, Cork in 1996.

 


 

 

 

Séamus Ó Néill

Seamus O Neill - Physiotherapist at East Cork Physio, Midleton, Cork.

Mairead O’Sullivan

Mairead O Sullivan - Physiotherapist at East Cork Physio, Midleton, Cork, Ireland

 

Mairead graduated with a Bsc (Physiotherapy) Hons in physiotherapy from the university of Huddersfield, England in 2004. Since then she has gained a wide variety of experience working in the NHS. She has completed postgraduate courses in acupuncture, sports injuries, biomechanics and vestibular rehabilitaion. in 2012 She qualified as an APPI (the Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute) instructor also specialising in anti and post natal pilates. Chartered physiotherapist / Occupational Health and Safety Consultant. Can I claim costs from my Health Insurance Company or Tax?

 

In most cases you can recover costs from your health insurance company. Reimbursement rates vary depending on your policy so we can recommend you check to clarify your exact level of cover.

Tax relief is available on all Chartered Physiotherapy costs. There is no excess due for this and you can claim back 20% of your costs after you have claimed through your Health Insurance. Simply complete and submit a Med 1 form. Further information can be found on or www.revenue.ie by phoning your local tax office.
